As part of Apple Rubber’s continued effort to promote a safe and healthy atmosphere for its employees, we would like to recognize all the employees that made the Route 66 walking program a success. In cooperation with our current health care provider, each week employees put on their sneakers and set a goal to walk more each day to their established weekly goal. At the end of the six week journey, Apple employees walked a total of 62,580 minutes. We congratulate all the employees that took part in creating a healthier choice for their lunch time activity. Let’s keep walking and grab a friend to come along.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates the cost to treat illness and chronic disease caused by inactive lifestyles is nearly $1,000 for every family in America, every year. Simply getting 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, such as a brisk walk, at least five times a week has significant health benefits, lowering the risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, hypertension or type 2 diabetes, and improving the health of muscles, bones and joints.
Congratulations to our top winner Lora Fitzgerald (bike) and
2nd place Sue Doherty (Darien Lake Tickets)
