• First Article Inspection and Reports

Purpose: A first article inspection is a documented dimensional inspection process that verifies the given part, or parts, meet all required customer drawing specifications.

First article inspection activities shall include:

1. Review of part drawings and specifications for key characteristics.
2. Dimensional inspection utilizing Apple Rubber Products Quality Laboratory.
3. Review of dimensional inspection results.
4. Confirm each key characteristic has inspection results.
5. Verify that inspection results were obtained using NIST traceable measuring device.
6. Review of nonconformance information, if applicable.

Option 1 — Sampling:

• One Piece per cavity for molds up to 30 cavities
• One Piece per cavity from approximately 30 cavities sampled for molds between 30 and 120 cavities
• One Piece per cavity from 25% of cavities for molds greater than 120 cavities

Option 2 — Sampling:

• Three Pieces per cavity for molds up to 30 cavities
• Three Pieces per cavity from approximately 30 pieces sampled for molds between 30 and 120 cavities
• Three Pieces per cavity from 25% of cavities sampled for molds greater than 120 cavities
